God And I - The Relationship We Share (Part 4)

A relationship with God is incomplete without His remembrance in the right way. Of course, there are millions of people in the world who love God and keep Him in His heart in different ways. But as a student of the Brahma Kumaris, we have learnt a lot about God and as many people all over the world share their experience that what they learnt here was a complete description of who they are and also about their spiritual form and qualities. Also, they learnt about God and His spiritual form, His qualities and extremely importantly His role of the present time.

You might say that we already know God in some way or the other but don’t forget that there is always room for more to learn, which should not be ignored. So keep your minds and hearts open to new and truthful knowledge of the world’s past, present and future and the world Father and Mother, whom we call God. God has opened many secrets about Himself, which many people all over the world have learned and made a part of their life by being a part of our introductory course that we offer here at the Brahma Kumaris. The course is held for one hour everyday and lasts for a week. After that, it is upto you to make a choice whether you continue inculcating more knowledge or you do not but this course will open your mind and give your inner thinking a different point of view. For some it can be a life changing experience. We invite you to any centre of the Brahma Kumaris. Centres are present all over the world. The course is conducted free of charge and the Brahma Kumaris offer this course to people from all the different religions and irrespective of age, gender and occupation. What that means is that anyone and everyone can take up the course and a time can be fixed up as per your convenience and after talking to the centre. This will give you an idea of God’s personality and also His present task of world change.

The one who is the master of the self is able to master situations and control people.

Expression: If there is an attempt to control situations and people without trying to control the self it becomes impossible. It only takes things more out of control and leads to extreme emotions like anger. To be a master means to be a master of one's own feelings and emotions under all circumstances. It means to have the reins in one's own hands.

Experience: When I am able to be a master of my own thoughts, feelings and emotions I am able to deal effectively with situations and people. I never go out of control or lose my cool however difficult the situation or person may be. This enables me to be aware of my own inner resources and use it to be the best of my ability.

God And I - The Relationship We Share (Part 3)

A beautiful relationship with God does not mean that we stop having beautiful relationships with everyone else because the love experienced from God is used to give to others without which life would be without any meaning. People who have tried to connect to God alone and forgot the beautiful people in their lives which make life a joyful journey did not reach the destination of peace, love and joy successfully. A loner or someone who disconnects with people will never feel as satisfied as one who connects with people and their specialties. Love God a lot but love others too. In fact, it is God’s love which will fill our relationships with others full of love. This is the triangle of spirituality. Take from God and give to others and also love others to bring them closer to God. This is the objective of true spirituality. Spirituality does not mean only remembering God to purify oneself but to serve others with that pure love which you receive from God. Service, as stated in all religions, is one of the primary objectives of a beautiful spiritual life and service is nothing but purifying others with the help of a love filled connection with God.

Loving God with a pure heart is another aspect of spirituality. Remember it’s the humble and the sweet who will win God’s love and closeness. The egoistic and the critical lose God’s love and as a result are not able to fill their relationships with that love. A loveful bond with God means being happy in His company and sharing that happiness with your eyes, face and your words and actions with others. A remembrance of God at the Brahma Kumaris in meditation is often done in a gathering to share the vibrations of peace, love and joy with others sitting with you through your eyes or vision. That is why we at the Brahma Kumaris meditate with open eyes. So taking and giving go side by side, remembrance of God and serving others go side by side.

The one who serves others is the richest.

Expression: To be in a position to serve others means to be aware of the resources and treasures within. When all the powers that are within are used for the benefit of the self and others they tend to multiply and increase. So the one who continues to serve others continues to become richer.

Experience: When I serve, not only do I become richer with what I use, but for having served unselfishly I also become richer with the blessings and good wishes that emerge from the hearts of others. I am able to experience the real richness and beauty of life as there is a lot of love, happiness and joy in my life.

God And I - The Relationship We Share (Part 2)

Experiencing God with you while going to your office, experiencing Him while having a meal, sleeping in His lap are some of our common experiences at the Brahma Kumaris. Also, talking to Him when faced with a challenge, holding his hand when in trouble and taking support are some more experiences. These are the same experiences which you might also have gone through even if you are not attached to a particular spiritual organization. But the one important thing that we would like to share with you is that even we, in our journey with the Brahma Kumaris, define being with God in a different way as we spend more and more time with Him. So say 5-6 years ago, we used the same words – we love God and enjoy being with Him throughout the day, but the same words mean a lot more now than what they meant 5-6 years ago. Today we experience God much closely than we did, say a few years ago. God keeps revealing Himself more and more as we become cleaner and purer even at the most subtle level of the consciousness.

So it’s the same God and it’s the same me but our consciousness has changed in say 5 years because of which God is inspired to fill us more and more with His divine experiences. Also, a walk with God with His hand in our hand today means something much more beautiful than what it meant at that time. Also don’t forget the same experience will be much more deeper after the next 3-4 years. So God does not change but because He reveals different characteristics of His personality from time to time we grow closer and closer to Him. Also, a companionship with God at all levels of thought, word and action takes a newer meaning everyday. Based on this type of spiritual life which keeps becoming more and more beautiful everyday, we welcome you to the centers of the Brahma Kumaris to learn meditation. Also, we welcome you to join us in these life changing experiences of seeing God as closely as what you might ever be able to imagine.

The easiest way to bring positivity in life is to become worthy of God's love.

Expression: A simple checking whether to perform an action or not is to see if it would be approved by God. When every action is thus checked, there would be positivity and benefit expressed through everything. There would not be any negative, waste or even ordinary actions performed, but only those that are sealed with the power of positivity.

Experience: When I am able to bring about such positivity in my life, I'll not only win the love of God, but also the love, praise and good wishes of all those around me. I also become trust worthy and an image of support for those who are seeking to bring positivity in their lives.

God And I - The Relationship We Share (Part 1)

A beautiful lesson which we learn at the Brahma Kumaris is to keep God with us in every action throughout the day. The type of remembrance varies according to the action we are performing and also changes depending on the setting we are in, like whom we are talking to, whether we are silent or our mind is busy in something. Also whether the action we are performing at that time is something we have to give a lot of mental attention to like driving a car or is it an action like taking a walk in the park which involves lesser mental attention. The energies of our mind and intellect are used in remembrance. We have to keep that in mind and decide how we will keep God as a companion with us at every moment. There are various different methods of keeping a positive consciousness through the direct or indirect remembrance of God. They say God resides in clean temples only – that means if our mind is absolutely clean, we can experience God extremely closely. There are some people in the world for whom God is an extremely close companion who will tell them everything that is required to experience success in every sphere of life. They are so close enough to God that they can have a sweet conversation with God anytime in which He can give clear and absolutely true instructions for the required moment based on the scenes which He can see from above. Sometimes, we are completely unaware of these scenes, since they are hidden from our physical eyes.

Very often we are so busy in performing actions, that our inner mental connection with God is cut off and we do not realize it. What is the right type of positive mindset to experience a pure connection with God, our spiritual Father and Mother, throughout the day, in different actions, is something that God has shared with us at the Brahma Kumaris. This has made us rich with His power filled company. Our every action needs to be filled with the love filled company of the Highest of Highest and the most beautiful being that exists - God.

Determination fills a thought with power.

Expression: Any thought which is added with determination automatically brings confidence. This confidence naturally fills the thought with power. When there is the thought, 'I can do it', there is surely the power to do it. Then there are no distractions, nor is there any comparision with others. All resources are put to the maximum use and the task is accomplished.

Experience: When I am able to fill my positive thoughts with the power of determination, I am able to bring all my special thoughts and plans into action immediately. I am able to feel the satisfaction of bringing equality into my thoughts, words and actions. There is no feeling of helplessness, but there is only confidence and courage in doing what I am supposed to do.

Attention To Every Karma

Our every thought, word and action are the energy we send out to the world, which is our karma. Situations and people’s behaviors are the energy on the return, which is our destiny. Every karma gets recorded on the soul, and brings consequence either in this life or in future lives. With inner power we learn to create right karmas, and face consequences of past karmas with stability. Do you take credit for situations when life is smooth? Do you blame God or other people when it hits a rough patch? Do you believe you create your destiny, or that it was pre-destined? We are the creators of our destiny. Every karma has a consequence which can come to us today, in a few days, few years or few births. What we do today in response to what is happening to us is our present karma, and is completely our choice. Let us create the right thought, words and behaviors now as present karma, regardless of the situation. The right present karma settles past karmic accounts, creates a pleasant experience today and a beautiful destiny for our future. Let’s not focus on what people and situation do to us, let us focus on keeping our karmas right.

You are on the journey of your life, living your life your way and according to your values and principles. Whether it is simple eating, drinking, dressing or living habits or sanskars, choose only what is right for your karmic account, only what increases your inner power, what spreads happiness. Your every thought, word and behaviour should be pure and powerful, irrespective of situations. Emerge your original qualities of peace and happiness. Use them in every karma. Have beautiful karmic relationships with people, with nature, with objects, with everything which is there for you. All your happiness, health, harmony and success today is because of your beautiful past karmas. And a few challenges are consequences of your not-so-right past karmas. Accept them without questions, face them knowing that your power lies in the now. Choose a pure present karma to settle the past and secure a happy future. Be grateful to everyone who is right to you, even to anyone who has not been right to you, for giving you the opportunity to increase your inner power and settle your past karma. At every moment have all your karmic accounts settled.

True victory lies in inspiring courage in others too.

Expression: The one who is victorious enables others to be victorious too. Such a person will never make the other person seem any less. He will never allow the other person to feel defeated because the one who is victorious is a bestower. He has the ability to give courage to others and fill with hope to achieve something better.

Experience: When I have the feeling of being victorious, I would naturally want others too to experience the same. I would look for ways to give courage and support to the ones who are losing. This will never let me lose hope in myself or in others and will also win the trust and good wishes of others. So there is a constant experience of being victorious.

Returning To Normal Conversation After A Conflict

When there is an emotional outburst like an argument or conflict, some of us resort to a silent treatment as a defense mechanism or control mechanism. The days or weeks of communication breakdown is both awkward and unhealthy, because we cling on to negative thoughts, fill the environment with heavy vibrations and deplete everyone. When the dust settles after an argument with family or friends, do your emotions continue to run high? Do wrong thoughts of resentment and retaliation remain clouded in your mind? Do you refuse to talk to each other for hours, days, or even months? We often stop talking after a conflict, believing that the absolute silence will help us make our point, gives us time to settle down and to realize. During this period of communication breakdown, the mind goes on creating heavy, toxic thoughts, opens up recent wounds, accumulates more pain and radiates rejection for each other. These vibrations are harmful for everyone’s mind and body. Let’s keep aside the issue, let’s keep aside our ego and let’s return to our normal thoughts, words and behaviour. We need to be the one to step up and speak to them as if nothing had happened. They are after all, our loved ones and well-wishers. Their wellbeing is our priority and our well-being is their priority. Resuming communication is the easiest way to save the relationship. It protects each other’s happiness, health, and most importantly, creates the right culture at home or at our workplace.

Remember you are a caring being. Care for the happiness and health of your family and friends. Sometimes they have different opinions which do not match with yours. You state your perspective and if they are attached to their views they disagree with you. Say whatever you need to say with stability. Respect them even if you disagree with their views. Immediately after that scene clear your mind and change the energy of the scene. Settle the differences in a healthy way and never allow a period of negative silence to set in. Return to your normal self, calm and relaxed. Voluntarily talk to them immediately and don’t wait for them to talk. Behave as if nothing unpleasant had happened between both of you. Your unconditional love and respect will heal them. Heal the relationship and restore harmony.

To bring newness into actions means to contribute for the betterment of the self and others.

Expression: There is a constant desire to do something better that makes a contribution to oneself and to others too. So the one who thinks of newness can bring about such a contribution. There will not be something different that can be done. But the same thing can be done in such a way that there is benefit visible.

Experience: When I am able to bring newness in the way I do things, I am able to experience constant progress. There will also be the satisfaction of bringing about newness and creativity even in ordinary actions. Along with this will also be the satisfaction of making a contribution in every action of mine.

Let’s Be Human Beings, Not Human Doings (Part 3)

A life full of inner happiness and contentment is only possible when everything you do is based on your real spiritual self. Suppose you have an important exam in your school and you are preparing for it with complete honesty and sincerity. Giving the exam is an important challenge for you but inspite of all your hard work you do not fare well in the exam. In such a case, we might feel unhappy but have we ever wondered that an external situation like this may be positive or negative. But do we allow our mind’s thoughts, feelings and emotions to be governed by them or to be controlled by them. Also, do remember that your life’s purpose is not only to earn wealth, play roles of different types, look after your family and children and excel in exams and get good degrees. No person in this world has everything going his way at all times in these different spheres of life. So a sole purpose based on things that may or may not go our way can be tiring and full of broken happiness, which goes and comes from time to time.

When we have a higher purpose of redefining our thinking and modifying our feelings into better ones, our little world around us – our family and then the little bigger world around us – our workplace and then the even bigger world – our society followed by our country and then the complete world will begin to change. If we had the complete human race acquiring a higher purpose before short term purposes of eating and feeding, earning and breeding, gaining and producing, then all these things outside us would be more full of accuracy and beauty. So, take a step forward today and start living like special human beings who love the being before the doing. This will create little worlds of happiness and full of peace and love around you … the little heavens, which will create a beautiful paradise in the whole world.

To check regularly means to bring about a change.

Expression: When there is any negative action performed, there is an immediate feeling of guilt and a desire not to perform it again. But the checking also needs to be at a level where it never repeats again. Maintaining a chart of one's own weakness means checking regularly. Such checking brings about a permanent change.

Experience: When I am able to maintain a chart where I could monitor my own progress, I am able to remain committed to my transformation. Adverse situations or people will never deter me, but I am able to bring about the desired change. I am able to continue the process of transformation even when what I seek to change is not harmful in the present phase of my life. Thus regular checking will prevent carelessness from creeping in.
