Overcoming Addiction To Photographs And Selfies

Overcoming Addiction To Photographs And Selfies

Before the era of smartphones, taking a photo was a process in itself. Today we are always eager capturing pictures of ourselves and our lives too often, and feel compelled to upload them on social media to get attention. Addiction to capturing life's moments with a camera is destroying our ability to capture vibrations of the experience on our mind. Do you inevitably leave late for a party as you're clicking selfies and uploading them on social media? Can you just not stop capturing videos on every occasion? And do you feel let down if your posts don't gather enough Likes? We enjoy reflecting on precious memories through photos and videos. But the urge to click-every-moment is leading to an addiction of posting them on social media and seeking public approval. Every scene radiates an energy that is to be experienced. We also need to radiate our own good energy to that scene. In striving for a perfect photo, we tend to pose and pretend to a point where our authentic energy gets blocked. Let's honour privacy. Capture photos for yourself, not for public approval.

Enjoy life's scenes, there is beauty and goodness everywhere. You visit many beautiful places, meet so many loveful people and attend several memorable events. There is a lot happening and many memories to cherish. But do not become addicted to clicking photos to make memories. When there is a picture-perfect scene, just take a couple of photos if needed and put the camera down to feel the vibrations and to take in the moment. Experience the energy and not just view it through the lens of a camera, absorb the vibrations and radiate your pure vibrations to the scene. Capture your life's memories on your mind and rely on your memory. It is sharp and strong. Emotionally connect back to that memory. When family or friends share their photos regularly, don't engage in social competition and don't crave for attention. Even if you need to share it with someone it shouldn't be to get their approval. Approve of yourself and have all the good times recorded on your mind. Repeat this affirmation 3 times to de-addict from constantly taking self-portraits or other pictures - I am a blissful being. I record life's beautiful scenes on the screen of my mind, not on my camera. I hold precious life's moments in my memory. I radiate peace and happiness to every scene and fully live the experience.

Message for the day

To understand the power of positivity is to finish negativity.

Expression: All it takes to finish darkness, is a little light. What is real is light and what needs to go away is darkness. In the same way, negativity is nothing but a lack of positivity. The one who is able to use positivity in situations, is able to finish negativity very naturally. There is a very powerful influence of this inner positivity, where no negativity of the self or the others remain.

Experience: When I am able to enable myself to use the power of positivity, I experience myself to be free from the influence of negativity. I am powerful in all situations, and deal with them with great ease. Others or situations don't have an influence on me. Instead I am able to influence others with my own commitment to positivity.

Stable In Appreciation

Stable In Appreciation

When people appreciate us for who we are or what we do, what they say about us is not truly about us. They actually reflect their quality to be able to see niceness in us. It is their opinion about us, their perspective, and is subject to change. Let us thank them for their gesture but not get carried away or get addicted to appreciation. Your social media post got very few Likes. Your boss did not recognize the efforts you put on a project over the weekend. Your family has rarely acknowledged your care and love for them. Do these factors demotivate you? Do you sense a subtle but sure need for appreciation? Receiving a compliment is one thing, seeking it is completely another. Appreciation is subjective. One person might praise us while another can bring us down. Getting addicted to praise can affect our life's decisions - we will constantly do things to impress people. When someone appreciates us, it reflects that person's beautiful personality to see the goodness in us. So appreciation is more about them, not us. This understanding helps us remain stable and humble. It keeps our ego in check. Do not consume appreciation. Instead, say Thank you to God and surrender the compliment to Him. Also humbly thank the person who was kind to praise you.

Always remind yourself that you are a humble being and be an embodiment of that. Radiate love and care to everyone. Play your roles and responsibilities sincerely. When people are happy with your qualities and your talents, they appreciate you. But you don't get affected or excited as you do what you do selflessly and not for recognition, you remain your authentic self. Each time you are appreciated, immediately remind your mind that you are God's instrument. You were chosen to do it, those people were destined to get it and you were as fortune to be a part of that scene. You thank God, surrender the praise to God, thank people for the opportunity and you also confess to people that their appreciation is a reflection of their own goodness, it shows their nature to notice goodness in others. Remain stable in appreciation, do not expect it, do not accept it for yourself, it does not affect you. Make humility your natural way of living.

Message for the day

As is the seed so is the fruit.

Expression: Several times we find things happening unexpectedly. Yet, there should be the understanding that nothing is unexpected or a matter of chance but everything depends on the seeds previously planted. When there is this understanding there is no passiveness but there is an ability to take responsibility and better the situation.

Experience: Every thing I do has a deep significance and an importance for what I have to attain. When I understand this fact, I am able to make the most out of what I have. I am never discouraged by the negative results that I get today, nor do I take myself to a great height for the positive things that I get. I remain stable and make the best use of what I have.

Accepting Failures With Ease

Accepting Failures With Ease

One of life's important lessons is that we may fail at times, no matter how hard we work. We need to accept failures and flaws, treating them as part of our journey. Most of us fear failures in life. The truth is that when we fail, the experience and learning are our rewards. Even the greatest success story has many untold failures, mistakes and challenges.

1. Don't create guilt over mistakes or failures. Guilt leads to a feeling of I am not good enough. If you believe that failure means you are not good enough, it lowers your self-esteem.

2. Meditate every morning to take responsibility of your thoughts and feelings. You will experience that your self-worth is independent of achievements. Your peace and happiness are who you are always, not what you will experience after achieving the goal.

3. Take the experience, the lessons and promise yourself to not repeat the mistake. Conserve energy by not blaming, questioning or going into guilt. Use that energy to strengthen yourself and move forward.

4. Understand that situations and people are not in your control. How you respond to them is in your control.

5. Set goals, plan, execute, achieve and enjoy the success. But don't make a task or its result more important than your own physical and emotional well-being.

Message for the day

To make big things small is to remain in peace.

Expression: Many times life brings situations, which are difficult and seem impossible to work on. But there should be the ability to transform something as big as a mountain into something as small as a grain of sand. To do this means to look for solutions instead of looking at problems. It also means to make effort to find the right answers for the problems.

Experience: When I have the ability to look at things lightly, I will be able to make even big things as small. This gives me the courage to deal with situations with ease. Then I am able to remain in peace. Such a state of mind is naturally able to bring out the best solutions under all circumstances.
