Take And Apply One Value For Each Day

Take And Apply One Value For Each Day

Every scene in our daily life presents so many choices of how to be and what to do. The decision we take in each of them is a reflection of our values. Whether it is our care, patience, sincerity or gratitude - values give direction and add meaning to life. If our thoughts, words and behaviors are in line with our values, we feel comfortable. But if we compromise, deviate or give up values for any reason, we regret it sooner or later.

As someone who believes in moral living, you create a compass of values and use it to guide your choices and decisions. But as you set out into the world, you notice people around you compromising on their values. At those moments, do you get tempted to drop yours? Have you given up on any value just because someone else you live with, doesn't have it? Values are our strength. Even if no one around us is using them, and even if others believe they don't work, we should not give them up. But often our behavior becomes only a reflection of the way others behave with us, and in the process our own values get lost. Living values means to consistently strengthen the spectrum of our principles and use them every time with everyone. Holding on to our values even in the face of temptations and challenges, increases our power. Values should be at the heart of all our choices and decisions, always. Otherwise if we use them only as per convenience, our values lose their value. Choose any one value and for the next 24 hours, be committed to make that value reflect in who you are and what you do. Use it always and with everyone. Remind yourself - I choose one value every day. And I use it in my every thought, word and behaviour. My values define me. I bring them into action in every scene and strengthen my personality.

The value you choose becomes like a code of conduct which helps you become better and better. You will also make a difference to people and situations around you.

Message for the day

Mercy means to give courage.

Expression:
The one who is merciful is able to give courage to the ones who are weak, because of the ability to look at the positive qualities in them. The weak ones are never made weaker with negative and discouraging talk, but are encouraged to discover and use the strengths that are hidden within. So real mercy will give the courage to the other person to change too.

Experience: When I have mercy on others, I will never lose hope on anyone, but will continue to have good wishes for everyone. Whatever the kind of person, even with the most negative situation, I will find my stock of good wishes to always be full. So I am able to be free from the expectation from the others to bring about a change immediately.

Celebrating Raksha Bandhan With Divinity And Beauty (Part 3)

Celebrating Raksha Bandhan With Divinity And Beauty (Part 3)

The festival of Raksha Bandhan begins with exchange of greetings, applying tilak, tying the sacred thread, offering sweets and then exchanging gifts.

1. Greetings – Our every thought and word for everyone should be a blessing. Irrespective of their sanskars and behaviours, we create only pure and positive thoughts and words which empower them to change their sanskars. We radiate blessings to them which become their reality and change their destiny. Let us delete all the past hurt that we are still holding on to, because they have radiated impure and negative vibrations to us.

2. Tilak – We apply the tilak at the center of the forehead, as a reminder to open the third eye, the seat of the soul. Applying tilak means to awaken to the reality that I am not this body, roles and relationships. I am a divine soul and each one I interact with is the same. This finishes our body consciousness of everything that we have acquired in this life. Body consciousness is the foundation of all vices. Soul consciousness is the foundation of all virtues.

3. Rakhi – Rakhi is derived from the word Raksha, meaning protection. Tying a rakhi is symbolic of our pledge to use our original sanskars of purity and love in every thought, word and action, which is our protection. When it remains tied on our wrist, a Rakhi is a reminder about the promise we have made to our own self and God.

4. Sweets – It is a reminder that our thoughts, feelings, intentions and words must always be sweet. This creates harmony in our relationships.

5. Gifts – Let us choose any addiction, habit or sanskar which has been troubling us and give it up on this Raksha Bandhan. This is the best gift we can give ourselves, our family and to God.

Message for the day

The one with humility is the one who can be creative.

Expression:
Creativity comes to the extent that the intellect is humble. Such an intellect is able to create something new. Because humility is a form of love, it brings the enthusiasm for creativity and the ability to bring newness in everything that is done.

Experience: Humility gives me an experience of being a master, of being powerful. This power comes from the experience of being a constant learner, because I have no ego of what I already have. This mastery makes me creative, making me bring newness in every thing I do.

Celebrating Raksha Bandhan With Divinity And Beauty (Part 2)

Celebrating Raksha Bandhan With Divinity And Beauty (Part 2)

Raksha Bandhan means a bond of protection. We need protection from all that is causing us harm or pain. All the terror and damage that we see happening in the world on a physical level is a result of emotional turbulence. A soul with deep thoughts of lust will indulge in impure acts; a soul with greed will indulge in theft; a soul with aggression will indulge in violence. The 5 vices – lust, anger, greed, attachment and ego are the causes of emotional suffering of the soul, and when these come out into action, we cause harm to others too.

Each soul needs to protect itself from ego, lust, anger, irritation, jealousy, obsession, greed, hatred, hurt, attachment, criticism, domination, manipulation ... the list is long. To protect ourselves we need to inculcate purity of thoughts, words and actions by using our seven qualities – peace, joy, love, bliss, purity, power and wisdom.

To experience and radiate our pure qualities, we need to promise our self and God a life of Daily Discipline –

1. Gyan - Study of spiritual knowledge to fill our self with pure information

2. Yog - Meditation and Connection with God to empower our self

3. Dharna - Using spiritual principles in our way of living and working

4. Seva – Giving and serving others through the mind and physically

5. Satvik (pure) eating and drinking habits

The divine festival of Raksha Bandhan teaches us the connection of Purity, Promise and Protection.

Message for the day

The one who is detached enjoys all facilities and yet is not dependent.

Expression:
For the ones who are detached, the facilities available are a medium for attaining something. They make the best use of each and everything available, for their benefit and the benefit of others. Yet they don't stop because of lack of facilities because they are able to find a way even if there is nothing available.

Experience: When I am detached, my internal stage is beyond fluctuation. I am able to enjoy each and every thing that comes my way and be light constantly. Also it enables me to be free of dependency. So I am able to make use of all facilities, and yet be free from negative feelings when I am deprived of them.
