Fulfilling The Criteria Of Positivity
What is the best way to define positivity? What, for you, is a positive
thought, word or action? We could define positivity as something which leads me as
well as others towards to a state of truth. A state of truth for me as well as any
and every soul is a state in which it is an embodiment of the virtues of peace,
love, joy, purity and power i.e. a state in which these virtues exist inside the
soul to the full extent. As a result, in this state of truth everything
that flows out of the soul or everything that it radiates or every thought, feeling,
word or action that it creates, speaks or performs, is filled with these qualities.
This state of truth is the original state of every soul. All these qualities are
connected with each other. One quality attracts the remaining qualities towards
itself automatically. So, when I, through any medium, bring myself and others, whom
I interact with, close to this state, to whatever extent, then that is positivity.
If my thought, word or action takes me and others away from this state of truth,
then that is the opposite i.e. negativity. Negativity hides my truth, and causes
me to take incorrect steps during the day, without realizing, hurting myself and
others yet not knowing how or why. At the level of non-physical spiritual vibrations,
we are all connected with each other, as a result of which if I help others to come
close to the experience of truth, truth as defined above, I will also help myself:
whereas if I bring others down into a state of falsehood that will also bring me
down. Whenever I give another soul an experience of any of these virtues,
the virtue first flows through me and then touches the other. As a result there
is an increase in the virtue inside me first and then the other is benefitted.
In the entire day, my words and actions may be numbered, but my thoughts are in
thousands. My mind works, even when I sleep, even though I am not active physically
at that time. The quality of my thoughts at that time is largely influenced by the
quality of my thoughts, words and actions during the day. So I need to be aware
throughout the day as to how much is each thought, word and action of mine fulfilling
the criteria of positivity mentioned above. The more my thoughts, words and actions
do so; the result is an increase in an experience of inner and outer lightness in
the self and a similar experience from me to those who come into my contact or whom
I interact with.

To be free from weakness means to have the power to mould.
Expression: When there is a weakness, it becomes difficult to mould according
to the needs of the situation. Weakness creates hardness and rigidity not allowing
the situations to create internal beauty. So the one who is constantly working with
one's own weakness finds it difficult to stop the negativity from being expressed
immediately. The weakness is revealed inspite of making effort not to and there
is unpleasantness created.
Experience: To have the ability to mould means to become real gold. I become
as flexible and beautiful as pure gold, which is ready to take beautiful shapes
when it comes under the influence of the heat of the situation. So I have no hard
feelings for having to adjust, but I am able to enjoy the beauty I create and the
joy I spread.

The Origin of Addictions: How to Overcome Them (cont.)
In order to change an addiction, we need to work out what need lies behind this addiction. What is the spiritual desire that we are trying to satisfy? If we smoke for relaxation (by smoking we breathe deeply and this relaxes us), perhaps what we really need is peace of mind. Any doctor will tell you that mental peace cannot be found in a cigarette. On the contrary, instead of calming your stress, it makes you more irritable and nervous, especially when going through withdrawal symptoms. We can learn to find relaxation and peace through meditation and will not have the need to smoke.
The same applies to all the other qualities that we need to experience in our lives so that we feel satisfied and happy: it is in our inner self where we can turn to discover what we need. Although our mind often asks for visible and material things, its needs are deeper and nothing superficial can satisfy it. Meditation leads us to what is genuine and eternal.

Feelings change intentions, thus changing actions too.
Expression: When there are negative feelings like jealousy or hatred towards another person, those feelings naturally create misunderstanding. Even if the other person has a good feeling while doing something, a negative intention is attributed and this naturally changes one's own behaviour or response making it negative too.
Experience: When there is the slightest bit of negative feeling within me for someone, it naturally creates further negativity from others too. I find everything I come across to be negative, like the one who wears coloured glasses sees everything to be of that particular colour.

Soul Sustenance 12-06-2012

The Origin of Addictions: How to Overcome Them
Today, the number of addictions and addicts is growing fast. It seems that today human beings can become addicts of almost anything: credit cards, eating, drinking, sweets, lust, smoking, relationships, television, the internet and computer games, football, earning money, spending money, power, work, arguing, war.
In some ways, this shows the presence of an inner void (emptiness) that people try to fill with external things. While a person becomes an addict to any of the above aspects, their willpower is gradually weakened. And if one does not realize what is happening or does not put a stop to it, it is possible to fall into a spiraling series of automatic and compulsive actions that gradually limits our freedom to decide what we want to do with our lives, causing a loss of self-esteem and a state of depression, anxiety and dependency.
The origin of many addictions is due to a desperate need to solve a problem or a spiritual need (which may be a lack of respect, love, peace, attention, consideration) of a materialist form.
Here are a few examples:
In a cigarette: one looks for peace and relaxation.
In alcohol: one looks for confidence, determination and a feeling of safety.
In sugar and chocolate: one looks for love and sweetness.
In coffee and tea: one looks for energy and inner power.
(To be continued tomorrow ….)

Message for the day 12-06-2012
----------------------------------------------------------
An elevated consciousness brings speciality to the task being done.
Expression: As is the consciousness, so is the feeling behind the task, and therefore its quality. Just to perform action and finish the tasks at hand does not bring speciality and accuracy as much as it should. When the consciousness is special, that means before a task is performed there is a thought given both to the task and to the self, there is speciality revealed in the task.
Experience: When I am able to start each task with a special consciousness, like "I am victorious", or "I am powerful" or "this task is for the benefit of all", I am able to experience the speciality of doing the task. I am also able to increase my state of self-respect, whatever the task or however simple it maybe.

Tuning The Mind, Intellect And Personality (‘Sanskars’)
The soul, is made up of three faculties - the mind, intellect and personality (‘sanskars’). In order to tune these to the highest degree of subtlety, precision and efficiency; we need to connect with the Supreme Soul, who is also a soul, just like us, but has a perfect mind and intellect along with perfect ‘sanskars’:
Mind - The Supreme Being or God is an embodiment of positivity – negative and waste do not find a place in his mind.
Intellect - He is also the purest living energy in the entire universe – he is the innocent Lord; a being of conscious light, who has never taken a body and thus never experienced the five vices – lust, anger, greed, ego and attachment.
‘Sanskars’ - God is the ocean of the basic virtues of the soul and of humanity – peace, love, bliss, joy, power and purity.
By this connection, gradually over a period of time, our mind, intellect and ‘sanskars’ begin to become like his – mind becomes full of positivity; intellect begins to become pure and is able to take correct decisions so that right ‘karmas’ are performed and ‘sanskars’ become full of the virtues mentioned above.

To be free from worry means to have the power to change negative into positive.
Expression: The ones who are free from worry change that which is bad into something good, because the state of mind is calm. The one with a calm state of mind is able to think creatively and see very clearly even beyond the situation. So there is the ability to transform the seemingly negative situation into something very positive. So there is clear decision-making and quick action. There is also no time wasted.
Experience: When I am free from worry, I constantly remain satisfied for having seen the positive and finding the solutions immediately instead of looking at the problem and worrying over it. This internal silence gives the feeling of power, which naturally enables transformation in a second and only the goodness is absorbed.

Soul Sustenance 10-06-2012
----------------------------------------------------------
Becoming Aware Of What Is Ego
All of us are familiar, to different extents, with the emotion of ego. All of us don’t even define it in the same way. We are also aware to different extents, about the negative repercussions (effects) of the emotion of ego on us and on others. Depending on how aware we are about the effects, we work to eradicate the emotion from our daily lives, so that it neither disturbs us nor others. Some of us even consider it a positive emotion and feel it contributes positively to our personal and professional progress. To be aware completely of the negative effects of ego and to realize clearly whether it is a positive emotion or not in the first place, it is important to first become aware of what it is exactly. So, how can we define ‘ego’?
Ego is attachment, inside my consciousness, to an incorrect image of my ‘self’ which I then mistake for myself. When the attachment takes place, you lose your sense of ‘identity’ in the 'image' of the object of attachment which you create on the screen of your mind. That object can be something physical like your body, your physical personality, a relationship, a material possession, your status, money, a particular skill, respect from others, etc. or something non-physical like a belief; an opinion; a mindset, a memory, a particular virtue, specialty, power or a sanskara (positive or negative), etc. Therefore ego is the self attaching to and identifying with an image that is not the self. This process takes place entirely within our consciousness many times in the day, on the screen of the mind. E.g. When we say this is ‘my’ salary package (something physical) or ‘my’ opinion (something non-physical), we are (without being aware about it) creating an image of the salary package or the opinion inside our consciousness and becoming attached to it, so that we lose our self identity in the salary package or the opinion, believing that ‘I’ am the ‘salary package’ or the ‘opinion’. So at that time, the salary package or the opinion becomes an incorrect image of the self to which I am attached. This is ego. If while thinking, feeling or speaking about ‘my’ salary package or ‘my’ opinion, we do not become attached to or do not lose our self identity in either of the two, then that is not ego.

True help is to help people discover their own specialities.
Expression: When others' negativities or weaknesses are perceived, it is essential to look at their positivity or specialities too. This will naturally bring love and positivity in the relationship and there will be an encouragement of that positivity. So even if that person has no recognition or has not been using his speciality, an encouragement of it by others will naturally enable him to begin to use it.
Experience: Making others aware of their specialities and subtly encouraging them to use these specialities is a great help that I can do for others. When I am able to give this unique help and cooperation, I not only find benefit for others, but I am also able to get the good wishes of others. Even others naturally become positive with my positive attitude.

How Do You Know If a Thought is Positive?
Being aware of your identity as a soul through the regular practice of meditation, you connect with your true qualities – peace, love, bliss, power, knowledge, joy, purity and the thoughts you create from this consciousness are positive. Also:
• The thoughts that arise from your purest and most genuine inner nature are positive.
• A positive thought brings out the best in you and fills you with enthusiasm.
• A positive thought always has a beneficial effect, on you, society or the world, and harms no one.
• A positive thought about yourself boosts your self-confidence and helps you to recognize and appreciate your qualities those of others.

Message for the day 09-06-2012
----------------------------------------------------------
The one who has self-respect is the one who is free from aggression.
Expression: When the situation seems out of control, there is naturally a feeling of helplessness. This helplessness further creates tension, which gets expressed in the form of aggression. Such a kind of aggression cannot be suppressed or controlled. To be in the state of one's own self-respect is to be confident and the one who is confident will be assertive but can never be aggressive.
Experience: I am able to keep my mind cool, when I am in my state of self-respect. So I never react to situations negatively but I am able to understand the situation and respond in the right way. I take decisions in a calm and composed state of mind, so I find myself relaxed and easy even in the most difficult situations.

Soul Sustenance & Message for the day 08-06-2012
----------------------------------------------------------
Soul Sustenance 08-06-2012
----------------------------------------------------------
Positive Consciousness While Performing Actions
1. The seeds, the inspirations, planted in sitting meditation should be carried into action. Powerful thoughts carried straight away into action always yield powerful results.
2. The remembrance should be that the soul is the child and student of the Supreme Being (Supreme Soul) and should reflect the father and teacher through its actions.
3. The remembrance of the Supreme Soul as a constant companion sustains an internal relationship with Him whilst performing actions.
4. Churn (think deeply) over points of spiritual knowledge by relating them to your immediate karmas (actions).
5. Practice going beyond sound in one second. At different times during the day, stop, pack up all worldly thoughts and spend a few minutes in meditation. This is a really powerful way to strengthen the intellect. After a few minutes, return to the world of sound with the reinforced awareness of being an actor.
6. Practice seeing all those who come into contact with you as souls, tiny points of conscient (living energy) light situated at the centre of the forehead. In this way we will not be pulled into body consciousness, and will avoid negative interactions with others.
----------------------------------------------------------
Message for the day 08-06-2012
----------------------------------------------------------
The one who has the power to face is free from tensions.
Expression: To be good with those who are good is quite natural, but to be good with those who are bad is known as having the power to face. This naturally comes when there is the power to transform even that which in negative into something positive. When there is the power to face, there is no retaliation, no conflict. There is love given to all around.
Experience: When I am able to transform and look at each and everything in a positive way, I will not have any difficulty with any situation. I will naturally be able to face all situations in a light and easy way. When I am able to be free from tension in this way, I am also able to give my best and thus become an inspiration for those around me.
